My Biography
My name is Lubna. I was
born in Baghdad, Iraq to a big family, I have five sisters and one
brother, and I am the sixth. My life during the childhood and the teens stages
was very quiet and happy. I grew up in
Baghdad where I had finished my primary
and secondary schools. In 2002, I graduated from the college of engineering as an Electrical Engineer and worked after
that for a couple of years in the same university at the engineering
department.
In 2004, I got married
and left Iraq with my husband to the United Arab Emirates. I was living in the
capital city Abu Dhabi for almost eight years. While I was there, I had my two
daughters in 2005 and 2006 respectively,
and because I was completely overwhelmed by raising them and my other responsibilities as a mother and wife, I did
not have the chance to take any further academic studies or to work in my
field. After that, my husband had gotten a new job opportunity in Qatar where
we moved to there with him. We lived in Qatar for three years, and during that
period I had my third child, a baby boy we named him Zaid.
In 2015, my husband and I decided to move permanently to Canada to start a new life over there. In fact, that had been a postponed decision since 2004. Our new life in Canada was progressing smoothly since we landed because we planned for it carefully. We succeeded to enroll our daughters in the education system once we reached, and managed to get our permanent home just in six months of our arrival. Since then, my husband and I gradually started to be more involved and familiar with the Canadian local community and the lifestyle.
From the very early days
in Canada, our plan was to enjoy a great level
of health and education for our kids and to
have a strong foundation for their future, as well as to achieve my valued
personal goal to complete my master degree in a well-known
university, and I have started the first step by taking the required English
classes to pass the English exam test.
Eventually, I would like
to say that I have found Canada a very interesting place to live in; it has a wonderful diversity of cultures and seasons. However,
I would say that although I am enjoying my new life here, I still miss my life back
home, my friends, and my family.
