The 90/10 Rule
What is the 90/10 rule?
We watched a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6402QJp52Mby Dr. Mike who suggested that the #1 way to be resilient and tolerate the stresses of life is to change your thinking.
How does the 90/10 rule follow this idea? Explain below in one or two paragraphs. Include examples from your life. Write your paragraph below in the comments so you can respond easily to other's ideas. Reply to at least 3 different classmates.

Are you STRESSED??
STRESS
Everyone experiences it. It can produce a good result or help you to solve a problem if it is short-term. But if it is chronic, it can undermine your health and increase your risk of chronic disease and stroke or heart attack.
Managing stress ,so it does not become chronic, is a very important life skill to have. In class we've been talking about stress, learning the common vocabulary of stress. Today we are going to watch two videos that will inform us of the process of stress response in our body, how it affects the body if chronic and what to do to manage stress effectively.
You will be taking notes and sharing what you learned with a a group.
Some not-so-effective ways of managing stress are over-eating, or eating comfort food (mmmm, donuts!!!) or under-eating and not eating healthy food. Other ways people manage stress in an unhealthy way are watching too much t.v, and scrolling on your phone constantly. We have to find other ways to deal with stress that are healthy and effective.
Write about what you do to manage your stress in your blog.

Financial Advice for Newcomers
We've been studying finances 101 in Canada the last month or so. We've learned a lot about anything related to money in Canada. On Wednesday, we're giving our final presentations on this topic to two different classes that will visit us on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Hopefully the knowledge that you share with your fellow newcomers will be of use to them.
When we give advice, there are many different ways to do it in English. Today we studied 5 different ways that are commonly used in Canada (and one more commonly in the rest of the Commonwealth :)
This week we will be speaking our advice via our presentations, and we'll be writing our advice via:
1. A Blog post (today) in your Blog.
2. An email (on Thursday)
This will wrap up our advice giving and our Finances 101 in Canada themes. On Friday we'll discuss how we will finish off the year. (YES! June 13th is our last class) .
Oh, the pic? That was taken in Kelso in May, a few years ago. These are wild flowers called Columbine that bloom at the same time as Trilliums. Go on a hike this weekend or next and look for them!
